The runt of the litter always has a harder time surviving than its larger siblings do. Because the kitten is born smaller, it needs more nutrition, but the fact that it is weaker than its siblings makes it hard for the runt to obtain sufficient nutrition. One calico cat was part of an unusually large litter of kittens and the runt was rejected by her mother to make more room to care for the larger kittens.
Allen decided he would step in and adopt this kitten in need. He immediately fell in love with the sweet little calico’s face and knew that he had to step in to save her.
